The Death Race

The Death Race is the ultimate challenge, designed to present you with the unexpected and the completely insane! Nothing else on earth will challenge you like The Death Race, both mentally and physically.

Every Death Race is it’s own uniquely brutal challenge, no two races are alike. The race, created by Ultra athlete and Spartan Race founder Joe Desena, was developed as a way for athletes to test themselves both mentally and physically. The Death Races take place in the unexpectedly challenging terrain of the Green Mountains in and around Pittsfield, Vermont, and have lasted over 70 hours. We provide no support. We don’t tell you when it starts. We don’t tell you when it ends. We don’t tell you what it will entail. We want you to fail and encourage you to quit at any time.

The race, created by Ultra athlete and Spartan Race founder Joe Desena, was developed as a way for athletes to test themselves both mentally and physically.

The Spartan Big Bear Beast

The Spartan Big Bear Beast is one of the most gruelling obstacle races in all of Southern California. You will be testing your strength, endurance, and resolve to their highest to make it over 13 miles of terrain. Over 30 obstacles await you between the starting position and finish line.

Each obstacle is expertly crafted to force you into your discomfort zone and endure through the race. Do not let these obstacles stop you from reaching your limits and beyond. Turn your beast mode on and show the Spartan Big Bear Beast that you came to survive!

Please see the video below for the race obstacles:

The Spartan City

Spartan City takes place in major metropolitan centres, taking in great sights that are easy to get to. This is an ideal race for first-timers and returning Spartans looking to test their top speed over dirt-free, urban terrain.

City events aren’t that common, so if you spot one near you, give it a go. These races feature timing and have Open heats only. They’re also different to both Sprint and Stadion events in both their layout and the types of obstacles you’ll tackle.

3K-5K 20 Obstacles, Spartan is bringing your favourite events out of the mud and into popular cities around the world. This energy-filled 3-5k event will combine your favourite Spartan obstacles with a flat, fast course design set mostly on pavement. It is perfect for racers looking to try out their first Spartan event, racers looking for a more casual race, or for Spartan veterans who want to redline it for the entire course. While only featuring open heats, this event will still be timed for racers looking to push their limits and challenge themselves. Please note this event is not valid for the Trifecta.

Please see the below videos for the Spartan City race and obstacles:

The Spartan Trifecta

A member of the Spartan Trifecta Tribe finishes one of each Spartan distance – Sprint, Super and Beast (or Ultra) – in a Trifecta year (from Sparta to Sparta), anywhere in the world. You can earn multiple Trifectas in a single year, however, only one lap per day, per event will count toward this accomplishment.

5 reasons to join the Spartan Trifecta Tribe

  1. Unique Trifecta Medal (1/3 earned each race)
  2. Travel to 3 great locations and meet awesome people
  3. Qualify for the Trifecta World Championships in Sparta, Greece
  4. Add your name to the annual Trifecta blanket
  5. Trifecta Rankings – see where you stand world wide

But the real prize after you earn the Trifecta isn’t swag or a medal. Once you finish, you will become a part of the Trifecta Tribe and qualify for the Trifecta World Championships in Sparta, Greece on 4-7 November 2021.

Why Earn a Trifecta?

After each race of your Trifecta, you’ll earn a medal with a wedge attached to it. Once you complete all three races and earn three wedges, you’ll have a fully formed, unique Trifecta medal. You’ll also earn your name on the 2021 Trifecta finisher flag, a banner that celebrates the achievements of all 2021 finishers. The flag will be available for purchase after the 2021 season is complete.

Joining the Trifecta Tribe and representing your country is a massive achievement, and deserves to be on every Spartan’s bucket list.

There’s no easy way to earn a Trifecta. But committing to the Trifecta Pass holds you accountable to finish and become a valued member of the Trifecta Tribe.

The Trifecta Pass is valid for any heat entry in 2021 to one Sprint or Stadion, one Super, and one Beast. The Pass is not valid for Ultra events. It will also give you free parking and free bag drop.

After each race of your Trifecta, you’ll earn a medal with a wedge attached to it. Once you complete all three races and earn three wedges, you’ll have a fully formed, unique Trifecta medal. But the real prize after you earn the Trifecta isn’t swag or a medal. Once you finish, you will become a part of the Trifecta Tribe. This tight-knit community of Trifecta finishers will have your back through thick and thin. Joining their ranks is a massive achievement, and deserves to be on every Spartan’s bucket list.

It’s a fact that commitment holds us accountable. Accountable to train, eat and think like a Spartan. Commit to the TRIFECTA and push your mind, body, and spirit to achieve the strongest, fastest and most resilient version of yourself.

Complete your Trifecta within the Trifecta Year (Sparta to Sparta) and qualify for the Trifecta World Championships.

The Spartan Delta

Once you earn a Trifecta, you’re ⅓ of the way towards a Spartan Delta. This elite reward is comprised of nine wedges earned across three pillars of the Spartan lifestyle:

The Spartan Delta is a collection of achievements from Spartan’s three core disciplines, representing mastery of Mind, Body and Spirit. Their underlying principles, long understood by ancient cultures, are largely lost to the modern world. Each discipline embodies the Spartan pursuit of resilience, positive transformation and constant improvement.

Collect three Delta Wedges from each of Spartan’s core disciplines at a variety of Spartan events to earn this achievement.

No two Deltas are quite the same. Each tells the unique tale of your path to resilience and glory.

The Disciplines

Mind: Represents knowledge, selflessness and community. Achievements in this discipline are centered around training, coaching and giving back to the Spartan community by helping others.

Body: Represents athleticism, strength and competition. This discipline is the original Trifecta, earned by completing 1 Stadion or Sprint, 1 Super and 1 Beast or Ultra in a calendar year.

Spirit: Represents gruelling tests of character and personal transformation through adversity. Spartan’s Extreme Endurance events are found here, including the Hurricane Heat and Agoge.

The Ultimate Trophy

Your Delta isn’t supposed to sit in a box and collect dust. Flaunt the Delta Wedges you’ve earned using Delta Plates, which can be displayed independently or held together in a pyramid formation using a Delta Plate Base.

Commemorate your path to resilience with event-specific Delta Icons. Each icon is engraved with the location of the events you participated in, so you can look back on all of your achievements. No Delta is fully complete without nine of these icons. Why? Because an odyssey without a record is just a legend. Purchase your icons on race day or online in the Spartan Shop.
